Scottish Agricultural Science Agency, Edinburgh, 2nd July 2008
This one-day workshop is organised by the BSPP, under the auspices of the International Year of the Potato (www.potato2008.org), with sponsorship from Potato Council (formerly the British Potato Council (www.potato.org.uk). The workshop is designed to give an overview of current disease constraints on potato production and to provide post-graduates and recent post-docs with an opportunity to present either brief oral or poster presentations. A prize will be awarded by Potato Council. for the best oral presentation. Weather permitting, delegates will be able to visit the potato training plots at SASA's Gogarbank Farm. The plots are used for The Scottish Seed Potato Growing Crop Inspection Course which takes place annually during the last 2 weeks of June and is designed to train inspectors in the recognition of the 30 most common potato varieties, genetic variants, and virus and bacterial diseases (www.sasa.gov.uk/training/potatoes.cfm).
