Applications are invited for a PhD-student position at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Jena. The focus of the position is on developing new methods for structural brain imaging and on their application to structural brain plasticity, schizophrenia research, and patient classification using computational morphometry.

The candidate should have a degree in Psychology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Neuroscience, Physics or a related area. Experience in anatomical MRI (data acquisition, processing, statistics) and programming skills (Matlab, C/C++) are desirable. The successful candidate will join the Independent Junior Research Group "Neuroimaging" (Dr. Christian Gaser). The department has excellent research facilities including an on-site, research-dedicated Siemens Tim Trio 3T MRI scanner.

Salary will be according to the German public service scale EG 13/2 TV-L (PhD Student, i.e. 50%). The appointment is initially for 2 years with an option of extension up to 4 years and is available immediately. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
